| Here is a photograph of the computer monitor showing three components of the magnetic field. The large changes in the lines were due to moving the magnetometer sensor. The sensor had still not been positioned correctly so these three components were in unknown directions. Once the magnetometer sensor was aligned (see next slides) the orientation of axis 1 became North-South, axis 2: East-West and axis 3: vertical. Axis 1 is positive North, axis 2 is positive East and axis 3 is positive down. | ||
