| We also had to dig a deep hole for the magnetometer sensor. Above is Laura starting to dig the hole where we decided to place the magnetometer. We are facing North. Note that to the left, behind the fence there is very little vegetation. This is because there was a fire in Carson City a couple weeks before the installation date. The fire almost burned down the Observatory. It made it all the way down to the fence from the hills in the West. Had it not been for the Carson City fire department and many volunteers hauling water and putting out the fire, this would not have been our magnetometer site in Carson City. | ||
