Teacher Information


The Sun as a Star topic, game and activities are designed to introduce the Sun to your students before going on to the more specific topics on subsequent days. The Stellar Sun area contains a basic description of the Sun and how we classify it as a star. The facts page which gives the vital statistics of the Sun. This information will be useful prior to playing the game.

The activities concentrate on some particular properties of the Sun which might be new to you and your students. Each activity has its own set of teacher notes.

Solar Facts 5th and higher Provides vital statistics about the Sun as well as information about its structure, activity, rotation, and evolution.
Stellar Fingerprinting 5th and higher Explains how the color of a star is a measure of how hot it is and that a star's spectrum is what is used to compare one star to another.
The Stellar Family 7th and higher Explains that stars with the same spectrum and same true brightness are the same type of star.
